Dave Goyette of New Gloucester, the recipient of the 2023 Margaret Ross Award, was honored at the June 26 annual meeting of SeniorsPlus.
He was lauded for his almost three years of volunteerism for Meals on Wheels at SeniorsPlus.
The award, presented annually, recognizes an individual that has made significant contributions to the agency and the larger community, according to a news release from the Lewiston-based agency.
As a Meals on Wheels delivery volunteer, Goyette delivers meals to homebound clients of SeniorsPlus and also checks in on their wellbeing. In 2022, he volunteered almost 1,000 hours.
“Dave is very helpful and caring to all clients. He always ask them how they are doing, do they need help with anything. It is not unusual for him to then return to the office and tell Nutrition Services staff about these needs so that they may put in referrals for these needed supports,” said Betsy Sawyer-Manter, president and CEO of SeniorsPlus. “Dave always supports and promotes the Meals on Wheels program, because he knows the important impact that it has on the quality of life of our clients.”
SeniorsPlus is the designated Area Agency on Aging focusing on Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford counties.
