BOWDOINHAM — Merrymeeting Arts Center has scheduled new workshop offerings at its 9 Main St. location.
Janna DeWan and Zachary Feilds are two teachers and potters the center is lucky to have in the community.
DeWan, a high school art teacher and Bowdoinham potter, will be teaching a surface design workshop series. Sign up for one for $60 or both for $100. There is a small kiln fee for those who would like their work fired. Check out DeWan’s work on Instagram @JannalikeBanana.
• Saturday July 15, noon-3 p.m.: Adding texture using stamps, sprigs and slip. Participants are encouraged to bring their own leatherhard work, but slabs will also be provided to work on.
• Saturday Aug. 12, noon-3 p.m.: Adding color with mono printing, paper resist and stencils.
Zachary Feilds, the center’s pottery manager and ceramic artist, will teaching a Raku workshop for $100. Find his work on Instagram @zbfceramics.
• Saturday, July 22, noon-3 p.m.: This session is dedicated to creating work for the firing.
• Saturday, Aug. 5, noon-4 p.m.: Firing the work in the Raku Kiln.
The Heron Fund is available to cover the cost of these workshops because of the center’s donors. One can reply to the registration confirmation email.
