BRIDGTON — Andree Benoist is a watercolor artist who discovered painting later in life. Born and raised on the coast of New Jersey, water and boats have been attractive subjects for her. Since spending most of her time now in the foothills of the White Mountains, in Cornish Maine, rural life appears frequently in her work as do portraits of family members and interesting characters she has met here in Maine. Her paintings reflect her feelings about her experiences and observations and strive to show what it was like at a particular moment.
Andree studied with the late New Jersey artist Don Voorhees, and more recently with Alvaro Castagnet, Daniel Marshall, Charles Reid, Keiko Tanabe, and Colley Whisson through their workshops. She is a member of The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council, The Guild of Creative Arts in New Jersey, and Gallery 302 in Bridgton. Her work can be seen at Full Circle Gallery in Cornish, Gallery 302 in Bridgton, or by appointment at her studio.
