PARIS — The First Congregational Church at 17 East Main Street in Paris will be holding a huge yard sale on Saturday, August 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items for sale (and some for bid) include dishes, home decor, antiques, furniture, tools, linens, toys, sports gear, books, bicycles, and anything else one could want. Larger items include furniture sets, sea kayaks, wood chippers, rototillers, snowblowers, etc. There will also be hot dogs, popcorn, and baked goods for sale as you peruse and shop for needed items, gifts, and other treasures. Many items will be under the tent, so the event will be held rain or shine. We hope to see everyone there!

NORWAY — On Saturday, August 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the First Universalist Church of Norway, at 479 Main Street, we’re having an “Everything Blueberry” Bake Sale, featuring pies, breads, jams, desserts, cobblers, muffins, and blueberry gift items. BBQs

OTISFIELD — This month, the Social Outreach Committee switches the community lunch into an evening meal to include all the working folks. So come on down between 5 and 6:30 p.m. to enjoy some good food and community. The menu includes BBQ chicken, hot dogs, potato salad, side salads, and a variety of cookies. The meal is free. All donations are appreciated, as are all the many volunteers who make this event possible. The air-conditioned Community Hall is at 292 Route 121. Hope to see you there on Wednesday, August 16!

OTISFIELD — The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church (the little church with the big heart) in Otisfield is having an Old Fashioned Summer BBQ, with all the fixings on August 12, from 4:30-6 p.m. We offer hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, corn, coleslaw, and dessert. The meal is free, but donations are appreciated. Donations raised go to our Deacons Fund, which is dedicated to helping people in need in our community, (i.e., energy bills, medical bills. housing, food, clothing). The address is 231 Rayville Road in Otisfield.

Blacksmithing

OTISIELD — On Saturday, August 12, the Otisfield Historical Society invites you to our last program of 2023. Don’t miss this special blacksmithing demonstration led by Ryan Adams of Bell Hill Forge. The program will be held on the lawn behind the Historical Society’s Town House, located at the bottom of Bell Hill Road. The Town House, built in 1905, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Free refreshments will be offered after the program.
