GREENE — Police are seeking information on a man who broke into Farris Equipment on Route 202 early Monday morning, throwing a tire iron through a glass door and rifling through a desk, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
It was the second burglary there in the past five months.
Androscoggin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the store at 687 U.S. Route 202 around 3:18 a.m. and found damage to two entry doors and evidence of a break-in, according to a department Facebook post. The post also contained two surveillance videos and four still-frame photos.
The bald suspect wore an olive green hoodie, a black bandana across his face, khakis and black shoes. The first video shows him running at the south entrance and throwing a tire iron midstride to break the glass. The second shows him rifling through an office desk and leaving by the sales floor.
“They have pretty good video there and an alarm system,” Deputy Chief Bill Gagne said. “We are hopeful someone will recognize the person and come forward with information.”
The store was burglarized in March when a man dressed in a black hoodie and black face mask smashed through doors at the north entrance and stole what appeared to be two chain saws.
“Hopefully we find him,” store owner Daryl Farris said in a phone interview Monday. “It’s been ongoing for a while, now. We just hope something happens before property owners, homeowners start getting hurt.”
Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact Cpl. Darian Nadeau at nadeau@androscoggincountymaine.gov or Cpl. Dylan Morin at dmorin@androscoggincountymaine.gov. Information can also be shared with the dispatch center at (207) 753-2599 or through a private message via Facebook.
