NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine, (CRCofWM) located at 59 Winter Street, Norway, on the Stephens Memorial Hospital campus, announces their schedule of free in-person and virtual classes and activities for the month of September. Anyone impacted by cancer (cancer survivors and caregivers) can participate.
Weekly public Drop-in hours
Every Thursday from 9-3 p.m. Appointments are available on other days.
• Special activities
Stampin’ Up – Monday, September 11, 1-2:30 p.m. at the Cancer Resource Center.
Join Kathy Pulsifer and make some beautiful greeting cards to take home! All materials provided.
• Kayaking – Tuesdays, 9 -11 a.m. at the public boat ramp on Norway Lake (aka Lake Pennesseewassee), weather permitting.
Meet Sherri Otterson to explore Norway Lake by kayak. Bring your own kayak or use one of the ones provided. Also, bring your own life jacket if possible. Register by calling the CRCofWM at 890-0329 or email: info@crcofwm.org.
Weekly in-person classes
• Chair Yoga in Bridgton, Weekly on Mondays, 10-11 a.m., and also on Fridays from 9-10 a.m. Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot Street, Bridgton.
Taught by Susan Kane, this class can easily be modified to anyone’s ability level. You do not need to register in advance.
• Craft & Chat at CRCofWM, Mondays 1-3 p.m. at 59 Winter Street, Norway
Drop in and explore your creative side and meet new friends at the same time. All supplies are provided, and masks are required. No pre-registration is required.
• Chair Yoga at the CRCofWM, Thursdays 1-2 p.m. at 59 Winter Street, Norway
Join Kat Larsen for this gentle form of yoga which utilizes both seated and standing poses using a chair for support to provide all the benefits of traditional yoga. Chair yoga can help improve core strength and balance, promote better breathing techniques, increase flexibility, and help reduce stress. Masks are required. • “Mind full of Good” – Monday morning meditation – Mondays, 9-9:30 a.m.
This enrichment series offers new ways to grow the good in one’s life. Built upon the science of positive neuroplasticity, each week will focus on cultivating an opportunity to grow inner resources for peace, satisfaction, and joy. Classes include instruction, and discussion and are suitable for anyone who meditates or is interested in starting a meditation practice. Led by Karen Vasil-

• “A Mindful Hour” MBSR – Thursdays, 9-10 a.m. Learn how the practice of Mindful-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) can assist with reducing stress through breath, movement, and meditation. Join Kat Larsen as she leads this weekly class, integrating other practices from her work as a certified yoga therapist and registered yoga instructor.
