ANSON — More than a pound of crack cocaine and other drugs were seized and three people were arrested in a raid this week by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office at a home on River Road in Anson.

Officials over the past few months had investigated the sale of crack cocaine and fentanyl from the home at 167 River Road, Sheriff Dale Lancaster said in a statement released Wednesday to the news media.
The investigation culminated with four sheriff’s detectives and eight deputies executing a search warrant at the home at about 6 a.m. Monday. In addition to the crack cocaine, they seized eight grams of fentanyl, 221 gabapentin pills and other prescription pills, drug paraphernalia and more than $1,500 in suspected drug proceeds, Lancaster said.

Gabapentin is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved drug typically used to treat seizures. It has seen a spike in nonmedical use amid the opioid epidemic.
The drugs that were confiscated have a street value of about $48,000, Lancaster said.
Taken into custody were Anna Gunther, 33, of Anson, accused of aggravated drug trafficking; Erica Long, 24, of Madison, violating conditions of release and furnishing a scheduled drug; and Scott Mellows, 39, of Anson, charged with violating conditions of release.

Also charged, but not arrested, was Justin Atwood, 34, of Anson, who is accused of aggravated drug trafficking.
Gunther, Long and Mellows were taken to the Somerset County Jail in Madison, where Mellows was released later in the day after posting bond. Online jail records show Long was no longer being held Thursday, but Gunther was still in custody.
All four are scheduled to appear Nov. 8 in court in Skowhegan.
