DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have been a sewist most of my life and used to make most of my clothing. I am now retired and don’t have as much need to make clothing.
Because of this, I have accumulated many sewing patterns. They are mostly women’s clothing with some children’s patterns (mostly boys clothing), a few men’s patterns, and some Sesame Street stuffed toy patterns. There are all different types of clothing from casual to dressy — shorts, pants, dresses, skirts, blouses, suits, activewear, lingerie, etc. The ladies patterns are in the medium size range.
Even though some of these patterns date back to the 1970s, most of them are still appropriate for today. There are about 200 patterns in all.
Rather than simply recycling them, I would like to donate these to a group, organization or individual that could put them to good use. If you are interested, know someone that might be interested, or would like more information, please contact me at gm04210@gmail.com. — Rose, Auburn

My mother sewed most of our clothes too and made gorgeous outfits for herself, Barbie, other doll clothes, and sewed household items like lined drapes and furniture slipcovers. She went on to make clothing for her grandchildren as well. We were very fortunate and I have wonderful memories of it all. I still have the wedding gown she made for me in the 1970s!
Please let us know what happens to the patterns, and if for some reason no one responds, I’ll help you with some ideas of places to contact.

In case you didn’t know, Constitution Day is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is normally observed on Sept. 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia.

ANSWER: Yes, people must be subscribers to comment on stories. It’s considered to be a subscriber benefit.
You do need to create a profile to comment, along with a password that can be the same, or different, than your SJ.com login.
