DEAR SUN SPOTS: We’re hoping to do a story in an upcoming Sunday edition about grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. We’re in awe of these folks who have taken on this responsibility. No matter what the circumstances of your situation and whether you’ve been your grandchild’s primary caregiver for years or you’re new at it, we would like to talk with you and share your story with our readers.

If your grandchildren would like to participate in the telling, we would welcome their perspective as well.

If you agree, the story may include photos arranged by a Sun Journal staff photographer.

Please send a note to freelancer Karen Schneider at iwrite33@comcast.net to let her know you’re interested and she will contact you for an interview. — Karen, no town

ANSWER: I hope you grandparents will participate in sharing your story and inspiring others!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Friends of the Rumford Public Library is planning a book sale Saturday, Sept. 23, and will accept donations of gently used books beginning Sept. 12.

Donations may be brought to the public room during normal library hours. Please do not donate encyclopedias, dictionaries, textbooks, Readers Digest condensed books, magazines, or VHS or cassette tapes, as they are not in demand by book sale patrons.

Over the past several years, Friends has used the money raised from book sales to support library events and special needs. The most recent project was the acquisition of the cherry bookcase designed and constructed by local craftsman Gary Gallant.

The bookcase, designed to complement the shelving in the reading room, will provide secure storage and display of local historical materials, as well as items of area interest, such as the recent display of Lithuanian artifacts.

The price of books will be by donation and the sale is open to all book lovers. New members to Friends are always welcome. For more information call 346-3661. — Ginny, Rumford

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have an HP LaserJet 3330 printer, copier, scanner, and fax combo. It does need some work to get it back to 100%. I’m hoping a DIY-type person can bring it back to good-as-new rather than sending it to the landfill. It also has some spare toner cartridges. This is free to anyone interested. Please send me an email at jbbzr@pm.me. –Jesse, Minot

ANSWER: I’m hoping a Sun Spotter will take you up on your offer. I just fixed my 12-year-old Brother printer after watching a YouTube video. Thank you for attempting to find a new home for it rather than dumping it!
