Two of the top prospects in the Boston Red Sox minor league system, outfielder Roman Anthony and catcher Kyle Teel, were promoted from High-A Greenville to Double-A Portland on Tuesday, and will join the Sea Dogs for this week’s series in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Anthony, 19, is the No. 2 prospect in the organization, according to MLB.com. Teel, 21, is Boston’s fourth-rated prospect.

Anthony was Boston’s third pick in the 2022 draft, with Portland becoming his third level of pro ball this season. A graduate of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, Florida, Anthony began the season in Low-A Salem. He was promoted to Greenville on June 13, where in 54 games Anthony hit .294 with 14 doubles, 12 home runs, 38 RBI and 41 runs. As a senior in high school, Anthony was named Florida’s Gatorade Player of the Year and Florida Mr. Baseball.

Teel was selected 14th overall by Boston in this year’s draft out of the University of Virginia. After just three games in the Rookie League, Teel skipped Low-A and made his debut at High-A Greenville on Aug. 8. In 14 games with the Drive, he hit .377 (20 for 53) with four doubles, nine RBI and a .485 on-base percentage. Teel was the ACC Player of the Year and Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year this season for Virginia, batting .407 for the Cavaliers.

After this week’s series at Reading, the Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field on Sept. 12 to begin the season-ending six-game series against the Hartford Yard Goats.
