ISLESBORO — Justin Lucas scored on a pair of breakaways in the second half to send Buckfield past Islesboro 2-1 in a boys soccer game Thursday.
Finley Conover scored the Eagles’ (0-1) goal off a free kick in the second half.
Cayden Durgin made eight saves to secure the win for the Bucks (1-0), while Robert Conover stopped four shots for Islesboro.
VOLLEYBALL
NYA 3, EDWARD LITTLE 1: The Red Eddies fell in their first-ever varsity volleyball match on the road in Yarmouth.
Edward Little dropped the first two sets, 25-16 and 25-15, before claiming its first set win by a 25-17 score. The Panthers (1-1) closed out the match by winning the fourth set, 25-14.
Charlotte McLatchy recorded seven kills, four aces, four assists and nine digs for North Yarmouth Academy. Eleanor Zuiches added 10 aces, two kills, five assists and four digs. Sasha Schutz had seven aces and three kills.
GIRLS SOCCER
WELLS 1, POLAND 0: Caitlin Shiels scored late in the first half with an assist from Olivia Boutot, and keeper Savannah Tardiff held the Knights (0-3) scoreless as the Warriors (2-0-1) won in Poland.
Jill Barnes made 12 saves for Poland.
The game was called with 11 minutes remaining in the second half due to lightning.
COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY
BATES 9, THOMAS 0: St. Dom’s grad Paige Cote netted a hat trick and added two assists as the Bobcats rolled past the Terriers at Campus Avenue Field in Lewiston.
Anna Cote also scored for Bates, as did Maria Femia, Anna Lindeis and Ella Blum. Kami Lambert potted a pair of goals. Molly Griffin notched a pair of assists.
Emma Volkers made one save for Bates, and Kaili Jacobsen helped secure the shutout in goal. Edward Little grad Elise Syphers stopped nine shots for Thomas, Brennan Pinto turning aside three more.
