AUGUSTA — Police are investigating a report of an armed robbery at a Mill Street apartment building during the early morning hours Friday.

Augusta Police Staff Sgt. Eric Lloyd said police responded to a report of an armed robbery on Mill Street at 2:49 a.m. Friday. Investigating officers said the incident appeared to have been a “targeted home invasion” at an apartment building, according to Lloyd.

Lloyd said no injuries were reported. Officers remained on the scene until 4:25 a.m. Friday.

“We do not believe that this was a random incident at this time and there is no concern of threat to the general public,” Lloyd said Friday.

Police records indicate the incident was reported to have taken place at 56 Mill St., a multi-story apartment building at the corner of the short, residential Mill Street and Mount Vernon Avenue. Mill Street runs between Northern Avenue and Mount Vernon Avenue in the Sand Hill area of the city.

Lloyd said the case is under investigation and no further details would be released.
