NO. LIVERMORE — At the North Livermore Baptist Church Sep. 10 service, the congregation was welcomed by Pastor Bonnie Higgins at 9:30 a.m. to begin the service. The Invocation/Lord’s Prayer were recited. The hymns that were sung were “Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us”, “God Leads Us Along” and “O God, Our Help in Ages Past”. The service ended with “Go Now in Peace”. Linda Lyman is the organist and Janet Diaz is the pianist each week. Lew Lyman leads the music for the congregation each week.
The sermon, titled “God’s Watching” the scripture from Hebrews 4:13-16. Pastor Bonnie began by asking the congregation how they feel when they feel they are being watched by someone. Many times when you go into a store or a business, someone is watching what you do. But how do you feel about the fact that God is always watching every move you make? How does that make you feel?
There are many scriptures in the Bible where it says that God is watching us, Proverbs 15:3 says “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” Psalms 33:13 says “The Lord looks down from heaven;…” God sees everything, even when no one else does. He sees our good deeds and He also sees when we are being disobedient and in sin. Sometimes we think that God has so much going on in watching the whole world that He isn’t watching you, so you think you can slide something past Him. If you think that, you would be wrong.
We need to keep reminding ourselves that God sees everything at all times, He sees the big picture, because He sits above all. We are limited in what we see, but He is not.
We need to realize that God sees us right now, in our pain, struggles, hardships, confusions, tears, in our sin, addictions, even in our broken relationships, He sees all. When God looks down on us, He sees two categories of people, the ones who are in Christ and the ones who are not. We are not His children if we have not come to Him through Jesus Christ.
God watches His children just like a parent would, He wants us to be safe and secure in His hands. Our lives are an adventure here on earth, an adventure that we don’t go on alone, when we are His child. Because God is watching us, He watches us everywhere we go, every step, He knows what we are doing, He knows our hearts, nothing is hidden from Him, and He is our guiding light. We should be thanking God each day for Him watching over us, keeping us safe from this world of sin.
