To the Editor:
I am a member of the Maine Woodcarvers Association. Our mission is to promote the art of wood carving in Maine. We do demonstrations, put on seminars, and support local carving groups to support our mission. A major part of this effort is our Maine Woodcarver’s Show and Competition.
I have volunteered to do the publicity for the show this year. I hope that your publication will help by including the following information as a calendar event or a “what’s happening” blurb for your readers. Below there are two versions that can be used as is depending on what space is available. Please edit either of them to suit your needs.
The Maine Woodcarvers Association will hold a Show and Competition on October 7 at the Gardiner Lions Club, 27 Lions Way, in Gardiner.
There will be carvings on display by carvers from all levels. Attendees can vote for the carving that will receive the “People’s Choice Award”. There will be raffles, a 50/50 drawing, and carving and wood vendors. A highlight of the show will be MDI Woodcarvers Supply. Come pick up those carving tools and supplies you know you need and save the shipping cost!
The show opens at 9 a.m., and closes at 4 p.m. Admission is $3, under 12 and Seniors are free. Carvers can enter carvings from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 6 and from 7:30-9 a.m. on Oct. 7. Entry forms can be found and more information can be found at https://mainewoodcarvers.com/upcoming-shows-and-events.
