SKOWHEGAN — Ben Cole scored the game-winner in overtime as Edward Little earned its first win of the season on the road, 4-3 over Skowhegan, in a KVAC boys game Thursday.

Abdihakim Daud scored twice and Thiago Linhares also found the back of the net for the Red Eddies (1-3-0). Cole added an assist to his output, and Colby Smith and Breccan Albert also tallied helpers.

Max Kimble made five saves for the Red Eddies.

The River Hawks fall to 1-2-1 with the loss.

MESSALONSKEE 1, MT. BLUE 1: CJ Wallingford’s penalty kick with two minutes left in regulation secured the tie for the Eagles (1-3-1) against the Cougars (2-1-1) in Farmington.

JJ Greenlaw scored in the first half for Mt. Blue.

Chase Ranger made six saves for the Cougars, while Andrew Beckwith stopped 13 shots for Messalonskee.

LEWISTON 5, OXFORD HILLS 1: Mohamed Gabow and Jacinto Mavinga scored two goals apiece to lead the Blue Devils (4-1) past the Vikings (1-3) in Lewiston.

Annimear Ibrahim tallied a goal and an assist and Obed Antonio also provided a helper for Lewiston.

Payson Goyette made two saves for the Blue Devils, while Cooper Beaudin turned aside 15 shots for Oxford Hills.

MARANACOOK 4, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0: Natalie Mohlar had a hat trick and an assist as the Black Bears (5-0) stayed undefeated with the win at Readfield.

Kate Parker also scored for Maranacook.

Penny Bishop made 14 saves in goal for Mountain Valley (1-4).

POLAND 2, SACOPEE VALLEY 1: Arianna Gammon scored twice in the second half to send the Knights (1-4) past the Hawks (0-4) for their first win of the season in Poland.

Emma Sanborn gave Sacopee Valley the initial lead midway through the first half.

Gammon tied it off an assist from Olivia Austin 10 minutes into the second half. Gammon then put Poland ahead five minutes later when she finished off a pass from Graceyn Camire.

MT. ABRAM 2, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 1: Mckenzie Contreras scored two goals in the first half and the Roadrunners (1-2) survived a second-half rally attempt by the Phoenix (0-5) to win in Salem Township.

Contreras opened the scoring with 14 minutes remaining in the first half, then made it 2-0 less than three minutes later off an assist from Jenna Osgood.

Ashley Nelson cut Spruce Mountain’s deficit in half with 24 minutes left when she curled her corner kick into the goal.

Jany Pepin made eight saves in goal for Mt. Abram, and Tyoaka Hodgkin stopped seven shots for Spruce Mountain.

FIELD HOCKEY
EDWARD LITTLE 3, OXFORD HILLS 0: Leah Thibodeau scored a pair of first-half goals and the Red Eddies (2-2) pulled away from the Vikings (0-2-1) in Auburn.

Helena Moon scored in the third quarter for Edward Little. Adrianna Couture and Micah Joler each notched two assists, with the duo teaming up to set up Thibodeau’s second-quarter goal.

Kasey Smith secured the shutout with one save. Gabby Wright made 19 saves for Oxford Hills, and Charlotte McGreevy added three of her own.
