NORWAY — Where former proprietors of the quaint storefront at 238 Main Street in Norway used to cater to tastes for health food or decadent baked goods, a new shop focused on helping customers feel and look their best has opened its doors.

Longtime friends Liz Logan and Madison Cobbett have partnered to open a unique boutique with two names: the casual apparel shop Sweet Escape and hair salon The Foiled Studio.

The pair held their soft, yet grand, opening on Sept. 3. During the first half of the month Sweet Escape was open on Fridays 2-5 p.m. and Saturdays/Sundays between 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Starting this week, with two employees hired and trained, Sweet Escape is now open on Thursdays too, from noon until 4 p.m.

As with most beauty shops, The Foiled Studio sees clients by appointment.

Logan first opened her shop in Norway back in early 2021 and when the building she was in sold a year later moved it to Bath. Coincidentally, as she had decided to phase the business from a bricks to clicks operation, she learned that Katherine’s Bakery & Café was moving down the street to larger quarters at 248 Main Street and the space was available to lease.

She and Cobbett pounced on the opportunity to open a store together, in the community they where they grew up.

“I could not be more excited about returning to Norway,” Logan told the Advertiser Democrat earlier this month. “Sweet Escape will feature classic wardrobe staples that we all know and love, along with fun and exciting prints and colors. My goal has always been to bring the highest quality pieces I can while working to maintain a reasonable price point for the community, we try to have a little something for every style and price point.

“We have always thought the idea of a boutique and salon sharing a space would be so much fun for everyone. Customers will be able to get their hair done and shop for their favorite clothing and accessories all in the same place.”

In addition to casual fashions, Sweet Escape also sells jewelry, accessories, skincare and other beauty products, along with a few other home goods.

Logan expects open hours to adjust and the best way to keep up to date is by connecting to Sweet Escape’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Sweetescapemaine).
