DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Sun Journal is hoping to do a story in an upcoming Sunday edition about grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. We’re in awe of these folks who have taken on this responsibility. No matter what the circumstances of your situation and whether you’ve been your grandchild’s primary caregiver for years or you’re new at it, we would like to talk with you and share your story with our readers.
If your grandchildren would like to participate in the telling, we would welcome their perspective as well.
If you agree, the story may include photos arranged by a Sun Journal staff photographer.
Please send a note to freelancer Karen Schneider at iwrite33@comcast.net to let her know you’re interested and she will contact you for an interview. — Karen, no town
ANSWER: I know there are many grandparents out there who can relate. I hope you’ll share your story to inspire others and to connect with grandparents in the area who are in the same boat.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: If you like to crochet, I have something you may like — crochet patterns to decorate chairs, tables, nightstands, coffee tables, etc.
My mother-in-law passed away four years ago and I have a box of her patterns. I don’t crochet so these are waiting for someone to use. Call me at 207-931-6200. They’re free. Happy crocheting! — Maribeth, Leeds
ANSWER: I don’t crochet either. However, I have many of my grandmother’s crocheted items, including doilies, and have incorporated them into other crafting projects and handed some of them down to my daughters.
If no one responds to this, try reaching out to a senior center or local library. They may want the patterns so members can use them.
