MONMOUTH — Ryleigh Smith’s two second-half goals helped break a halftime stalemate as Monmouth/Winthrop got the 3-0 MVC girls soccer win over Mt. Abram on Wednesday.
Tarynn Keleher also scored for the Mustangs (4-2), with Izzy Hamann providing the assist. Abby Atwood and Abigail St. Clair notched assists on Smith’s goals.
June Foyt secured the shutout with two saves, while Jany Pepin turned aside 24 shots in goal for the Roadrunners (2-3).
DIRIGO 3, WISCASSET 1: The Cougars (1-4) earned their first win of the season with a strong second half against the Wolverines (1-3) in Dixfield.
Tessah LeClerc opened the scoring in the first half for Dirigo, and Wiscasset was able to tie it before halftime.
Sophia Nino scored the game-winning goal early in the second half, and Cami Wright provided an insurance goal less than four minutes later.
MARANACOOK 6, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 0: Natalie Mohlar had a hat trick as the Black Bears (6-0) won at Readfield to stay undefeated.
Phoebe Bell, Emerson Davis and Hadley Farwell also scored for Maranacook, while Celia Bergdhal dished out three assists.
Tyoaka Hodgkin had 22 saves in goal for Spruce Mountain (0-6).
BOYS SOCCER
LISBON 3, MARANACOOK 2: Nick Perkins and Spencer Franks assisted on each other’s goals in the second half as the Greyhounds (1-4) edged the Black Bears (0-4) in Lisbon.
Elijah Louins scored in the first half for Lisbon.
MT. ABRAM 6, WINTHROP 0: Killian Pillisbury, Morgan Thibodeau and Sam Cockerham each scored twice as the Roadrunners (6-0) remained undefeated with the win at Salem Township.
Thibodeau, Bear Rollins and Ash Rollins had an assist apiece for Mt. Abram, which outshot Winthrop 21-1.
Nick Wagner made 14 saves in goal for Winthrop (2-4).
MT. BLUE 3, SKOWHEGAN 0: The Cougars (3-1-1) found their offense in the second half of a home win over the River Hawks (1-3-1) in Farmington.
JJ Greenlaw scored twice and Jose Gutierrez also found the back of the net for Mt. Blue, which was held scoreless in the first half. Nate Zeliger, Gage DeCarolis and Levi Bogar all tallied assists.
Chase Ranger made five saves for the shutout in goal. Ryan Donoghue stopped eight shots for Skowhegan.
LEWISTON 4, CAMDEN HILLS 2: Yahouba Katou notched a goal and an assist to help lead the Blue Devils (5-1) to a key Class A North win over the Windjammers (4-2) in Rockport.
Tegra Mbele, Nasip Abdi and Aristarque Meli also scored for Lewiston, which took a 2-1 lead into halftime. Jacinto Mavinga added an assist.
Payson Goyette made six saves in goal for the Blue Devils.
FIELD HOCKEY
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 8, OAK HILL 0: Olivia Mastine led a high-powered Phoenix (4-1) attack with three goals and two assists in a win over the Raiders (2-2-1) at Kents Hill School in Readfield.
Brooklyn Fournier tallied two goals and Anna Plourde, Miley Fournier and Malarie Richards each pitched in with one for Spruce Mountain, which led 5-0 at halftime. Aubrey Kachnovich had three assists, and Plourde and Maddie Grimaldi each notched one.
Sierra Lane stopped 31 saves for Oak Hill. Mallory Clark played in goal in the first half for the Phoenix, making four saves, and Kyleigh Marcotte added one of her own while playing the second half.
YARMOUTH 4, POLAND 0: Sophie Smith netted a pair of goals in the second quarter, starting the Clippers (6-0) on their way to a win over the Knights (1-5) in Poland.
Madison Wiles and Erica O’Connor each added a fourth-quarter goal, and Celia Zinman had two assists.
