MEXICO — A local woman and two men from Massachusetts were arrested Wednesday and charged with running a network that trafficked fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine between Massachusetts and the Mexico area.
Police said they were told by concerned citizens that out-of-state drug traffickers had been traveling from Massachusetts to Mexico, where they distributed illegal drugs with the assistance of a woman who lives on Main Street.
That woman, Kellie Bernard, of 199 Main St. was arrested after police searched her home Wednesday afternoon. Bernard, 36, was charged with three counts of aggravated drug trafficking.
Charged on the same counts were Joel Espinosa, 24, and Isiah Medina, 23, both of Lawrence, Massachusetts.
All three were being held at the Oxford County Jail in Paris without bail until court appearances scheduled for Friday.
Seized in the investigation, police said, were over 224 grams of fentanyl, 53 grams of methamphetamine, 10 grams of cocaine base, seven grams of crack, a firearm and $3,400 in suspected drug proceeds. Estimated street value of the seized drugs is $25,000, police said.
Police from Rumford, Mexico and the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency with the investigation.
