DEAR SUN SPOTS: The coming months are filled with family, joy and excitement as we head into the Giving Season. The atmosphere at Bolster Heights is no different. We always receive generous support from the community and families to ensure that our residents have a wonderful holiday, so we trust in the kindness and generosity of our local businesses and residents’ families for donations of goods and services to support our holiday celebrations.
Each year that we have been able to do this, it truly has made the difference in their holiday season. Please reach out to the activities department at 784-1364 if you would like to donate. — Stacey, no town
ANSWER: Bolster Heights Residential Care is at 26 Bolster St. in Auburn. Ever since I’ve been Ms. Sun Spots, a staff member has written to me with this request and I’m happy to be a part of their holiday celebration by getting the word out to Sun Spotters.
The generosity of our readers always amazes me. Keep up the good work! And thanks to the staff at Bolster Heights for making sure the residents there have this to look forward to.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are looking for more crafters and vendors for the Our Lady of the Rosary Christmas Craft Fair that will take place Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eight-foot tables are $25. Please reach out to coordinator Angela at adobson@une.edu if you are interested in a space. We already have a Scentsy representative. — Angela, no town
ANSWER: The church is at 131 High St. in Sabattus. Readers write to Sun Spots often asking about opportunities to sell their crafts and other items. This is an annual event so rent a table and get yourself involved in a great tradition.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Can you please find out where meteorologist Sarah Long on WMTW has gone? She hasn’t been on the air or in the media for weeks. We miss her. — No name, no town
ANSWER: I reached out to Sarah through Facebook messenger and got an automated message stating she was out of the office and would respond upon her return. Let’s give it another week and if I don’t hear from her, I’ll circle back to WMTW.
Meanwhile, if anyone knows any details, such as if Sarah’s on vacation, etc., please let the rest of us know too!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: In regard to a Sun Spots from July 2021 (https://preprod.sunjournal.com/2021/07/14/wassons-grove-remembered-for-hamburgers-and-cooks-dressed-in-all-white/) I remember that Wasson’s was in Falmouth on Gray Road. I lived a short walk from there in 1967 and that’s where my bus stop was located.
Coincidentally, last week I met the son of one of the owners while hiking at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. He said his dad and uncle owned Wasson’s and everyone loved the cooked onions.
I wish I could remember the two brothers’ names. Does anyone know? — Dawn, no town
ANSWER: I’ve reached out to Harmon’s Lunch in Falmouth because I believe they may know the answer to your question, but while I’m waiting for a response, if any Sun Spotters know, fill us in!
