LEWISTON 21, BANGOR 14: A pair of long touchdown passes from Lonnie Thomas Jr. to Michael Caron elevated the Blue Devils (2-2) above the Rams (2-2) in a Class A North contest at Don Roux Field in Lewiston.
Bangor took a 14-7 lead on a 1-yard TD run by Parker Small with 47 seconds remaining in the third quarter. But Lewiston tied the game 23 seconds later on a 55-yard scoring strike from Thomas to Caron.
Caron and Thomas hooked up again in the fourth quarter, this time on a 51-yard pass play, to put the Blue Devils up 21-14 with 8:35 remaining in the game.
Caron finished with three catches for 114 yards and the two scores. He also made all three of his PATs. Thomas completed 7 of 12 passes for 160 yards.
Lewiston’s Jeffrey Randall scored the first touchdown of the game on a 3-yard run midway through the opening quarter. Randall finished with a team-high 64 yards rushing on 18 carries. Jayden Sands gained 41 yards on three rushes.
Joseph Dube carried the ball four times for 26 yards and caught two passes for 20 yards. He also had eight tackles on defense. Tafari Corson James tallied five tackles and two pass break-ups. Kenny Foss and Adam Benson also recorded five tackles apiece and each had one tackle for a loss.
Bangor’s first touchdown was a 1-yard run by Kyle Johnson that tied the game at 7-7 late in the first half.
GARDINER 35, EDWARD LITTLE 26: Eli Farias returned an interception 100 yards for the clinching touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Tigers (3-1) beat the Red Eddies (0-4) in Auburn.
Gardiner quarterback Chase Burgess ran for a score and threw touchdown passes to Evan Michaud, Cody Dingwell, Zach Christian.
Edward Little’s Bennett DuBois caught three touchdown passes from Kade Masselli, including a 66-yarder in the third quarter. Masselli took over at quarterback for the Red Eddies in the second quarter and finished with four TD passes.
Masselli’s first drive at QB included a 41-yard pass to DuBois down to the Tigers 17. A few plays later, Masselli threw a 13-yard TD pass to DuBois with 5:01 left in the second quarter, cutting Gardiner’s lead to 7-6.
DuBois’ second touchdown catch came with 41 seconds remaining in the half and put the Red Eddies up 12-7. A big kick return by Dingwell set up a 5-yard TD pass from Burgess to Dingwell with six seconds left in the second, and the tigers went into halftime with a 14-12 lead.
Following a 3-yard TD run by Burgess, Masselli and DuBois connected for the 66-yard scoring strike that cut Gardiner’s lead to 22-18.
The Red Eddies regained the lead on a 24-yard pass from Masselli to Connor Irish with 4:08 left in the third quarter. A pass to DuBois on the 2-point conversion made it 26-22 Edward Little.
A 28-yard TD pass from Burgess to Zach Christian put Gardiner up 28-26 with 7:40 left in the game.
Edward Little’s Jack Pepin, who had a standout performance on defense, returned the ensuing kick 80 yards to the Gardiner 3-yard line.
Masselli was hurt on the next play when he was sacked by Farias. Christian Rodriguez, who started at QB, replaced Masselli and completed a pass to DuBois, but his next pass was intercepted at the goal line by Farias and returned for a touchdown.
DIRIGO 42, TRAIP 0: Hudson Lufkin scored on two long runs and threw a pair of long TD passes as the Cougars (3-1) took it to the Rangers (0-4) in Dixfield.
Lufkin had touchdown runs of 30 and 65 yards in the first quarter, after which Dirigo held a 15-0 lead.
Lufkin went to the air in the second quarter, connecting with Brady Philbrick on a 47-yard scoring strike and Trevor Crosby on a 40-yarder. A 82-yard return by Dakota White after recovering a fumble gave the Cougars a 35-0 lead.
Owen Smith capped the scoring with a 28-yard run in the third quarter.
