LEWISTON — Jon Connor, a former state representative, retired Air Force veteran, small business owner and Lewiston native, has officially declared his candidacy for mayor of Lewiston.
“I am excited to announce my candidacy for mayor of Lewiston,” he said in a campaign announcement. “Having grown up in this once vibrant city, I understand the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”
He said he knows the value in holding himself and those he leads accountable for their actions, while as a small business owner, he understands the vital role that local enterprises play in driving economic growth and creating jobs.” As a former state representative, he said he understands “how to work together and solve problems to get the peoples’ business done.”
The campaign will focus on three key issues:
• Addressing rising crime with more proactive policing and working with the District Attorney’s Office to prosecute and prevent crime.
• Combating the addiction crisis by going after the dealers and enablers within the city while providing accountable support systems.
• Restructuring resources to provide better infrastructure and services.
“Lewiston will have the best neighborhood streets and sidewalks, Police and Fire departments, snow removal and parks in the state,” he said.
Connor said he believes that through accountability and compassion, he can “unite the community and capitalize on these strengths to create a brighter future for all residents.”
