DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Gardner Roberts Memorial Library in Hanover will hold its 14th annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be fun for all, including a yard sale, bake sale, plant sale, raffle baskets, food booth, book sale, live music, craft sale and a table of craft supplies such as yarn and fabric.

There will also be a wishing well for the kiddos and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds go to the continued work of the library. — Lynn, no town

ANSWER: I love all the ways a library enhances a community, and when you think about it, how they make the whole world a better place in so many ways. I hope Sun Spotters will get out and support this library on this special day.

If you don’t have a library card and use your library on a regular basis, what are you waiting for? It’s one of the few things that are still free!

We are a nonprofit organization with all volunteers and no one gets paid for anything. We are sponsored by 10 area churches of all faith denominations.

We are open Wednesdays from 12:30-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 7-10 a.m. We need nonperishable food items, bottles and cans, and food for our bake sale. It has been three years since our last fundraising drive because of COVID-19, so we really need funds. We feed about 3,500 people per month.

If you would like to bake for our sale, please bring your items to Food City on Friday, Oct. 6, or call me at 207-216-3460 regarding any food or money donations by Wednesday, Oct. 4, for a Thursday morning pickup.

Baked goods needed are pies, fudge, whoopie pies, cookies, brownies or anything else you would like to bake. We would also love donations of home canned goods. Checks can be made payable to LACO Food Pantry. We thank you for your help and support. God bless you all. — Bert, Lisbon

ANSWER: I have attended this fundraiser in the past and have missed it! I’m so glad you’re back in business with your event and hope that it’s a big success.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lewiston Seniors are looking for people who would like to play the card game of pinochle. This card game is loads of fun and easy to play.

We are willing to teach you if you want to learn and we will give free ice cream to those who come to play. If interested, please call 207-784-6241 or come to the Lewiston Armory at 65 Central Ave. in Lewiston on Thursday afternoons from 1-3 p.m. — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: This is a great way for area seniors to make some new friends and break up the winter doldrums. Give it a try!
