MECHANIC FALLS — The Town Council on Monday approved the codification of all municipal ordinances, zoning and building codes in a single 200-chapter, digitally linked document.
Town Manager Vic Hodgkins and Code Enforcement Officer Ryan Smith explained codification will provide integrated, easier access to the town’s ordinances and codes.
Planning Board members were in attendance and also voted to accept the codification of land use ordinances.
The undertaking took two years and was done by General Code of Rochester, New York.
It was stressed that nothing of substance was changed, only that it executed grammatical changes and corrections, generated statute references, made the language consistent, and provided security so that changes to any ordinance complied with specific standards.
Hodgkins said General Code will digitally update any approved changes or amendments twice a year.
In other business the council approved expenditures that will utilize funds from the town’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) account:
• $34,965 to Atlantic Recycling Equipment for a trash compactor for the transfer station.
• Up to $15,000 for continued road repair of True Street.
• $21,518 to Portland Pump for a new fuel island terminal.
The council also approved selling the wood pellet silo to Adrian Knox for $2,000.
The council approved a liquor license renewal for the American Legion and renewed a cannabis license for Eclipse.
