LEWISTON — Police arrested a 57-year-old local man Wednesday afternoon after they said he exposed himself to several people on Main Street before trying to force his way into a woman’s car.
Christopher M. Good, who had recently been released from prison, was facing a slew of charges, including three counts of indecent exposure and a charge of attempted sexual assault.
The drama began shortly before 3 p.m. when several people reported that Good was exposing his genitals on Main Street near Central Maine Medical Center. As those calls were being fielded by police dispatchers, there was a report that Good was trying to force his way into a car driven by a woman who had been traveling on Main Street.
The woman was able to drive away and was not hurt, police said.
When officers arrived, they were able to find Good in a local business. He was being booked at the police station about 3 p.m.
According to court records, Good is no stranger to indecent conduct. In 2021, he was arrested in Augusta after he reportedly assaulted a woman who was giving him a ride on Mount Vernon Avenue in that city. During that attack, police said, Good was getting a ride home from a 39-year-old Augusta woman when Good attempted “to take advantage of her in a sexual manner.” According to court records, Good grabbed the woman, punched her, grabbed her in a sexual manner and threatened to rape her.
Good then tried to crash the vehicle, according to Augusta police.
At the time, Good was a client of the mental health agency Motivational Services in Augusta.
Good also took some of the woman’s personal items. In that case, Good was charged with assault, unlawful sexual touching, obstructing the report of a crime, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, disorderly conduct, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and terrorizing, according to police records.
In May 2022, Good was sentenced to two years for those crimes, but was recently released. Police said he had most recently been living at a boarding house in Lewiston. Officers have had interactions with Good on several occasions over the past month and have charged him at least once with violating conditions of his probation.
Good was being taken Wednesday afternoon to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.
