NORWAY — Pine Tree Power advocate Jonathan Fulford of Belfast will speak at the First Universalist Church of Norway on Thursday, October 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the church’s Concert Hall. The First Universalist Church of Norway is located at 479 Main Street, Norway.

Pine Tree Power is a grassroots coalition with members all the way from Fort Kent to Kittery. The group is working to establish a utility that is owned and run by Mainers, for Mainers. Proponents of Pine Tree Power are asking Mainers to vote “yes” on Question 3 in November to replace Central Maine Power and Versant, both owned by foreign companies, with Pine Tree Power to bring back local control, save money, and reduce outages.

In 2019, Jonathan Fulford co-founded “Our Power,” the Pine Tree Power advocacy group committed to transforming Maine’s two investor-owned utilities into Pine Tree Power, a consumer-owned utility. Our Power is a group of Maine ratepayers, business leaders, energy experts, conservationists, and others committed to putting the Pine Tree State’s energy future in the hands of Mainers.

Jonathan Fulford has served as a volunteer board member and grassroots organizer, working on the Pine Tree Power legislative effort, fundraising, and other aspects of the campaign. He is a carpenter and lives in Belfast where he serves on the Belfast Energy Committee. He is a member of the Sierra Club Executive Committee, represents the Sierra Club on Maine Climate Action Now, and is a former Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress in Maine’s second congressional district.
