SUMNER — An on-farm program is set for 3-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Wrinkle in Thyme Farm, 106 Black Mountain Road.

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation District are offering the program in partnership with the farm in Sumner.

When Marty Elkin and Mary Ann Haxton started, they were novices to sheep farming. Today they run a resilient fiber farm in Sumner. People can join them for a farm tour to hear about how they have used sustainable practices and leveraged resources to build healthy soils and a business, according to a news release from Chantelle Hay at the conservation district.

This program is offered on a sliding scale of $0-$15 per family. Attendees are asked to pay what they can to help cover the cost of this program. Any payments can be made on the day of the event; cash or checks are accepted.

The event is limited to 15 participants; the registration deadline is Thursday, Oct. 12.
