The City of Hallowell invites the public to join city leaders and artist Chris Cart in a celebration of Cart’s newly installed Hallowell History Mural set for 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, behind 89 Water St. in the parking lot in front of the mural for a brief ceremony and ribbon cutting, followed by a reception with light refreshments in the Hallowell City Hall auditorium located around the corner from the mural at 1 Winthrop St.
Chris Cart will give a presentation at 3 p.m. in the auditorium on “The Story of the Mural” followed by a question and answer session.
The Hallowell History Mural was installed in June after five years of research, design and painting. It tells the history of Hallowell, from the founding in the mid 1700’s to present. Important early settlers, indigenous people of pre-western history, key townspeople, stone carvers from Hallwoell’s granite industry and much, much more have found a place in the mural.
