BRUNSWICK — Bates led a double-digit lead slip in a 35-20 loss to rival Bowdoin in a NESCAC football game Saturday afternoon.

Andrew Boel helped the Polar Bears (3-2) erase a 17-7 deficit by throwing four touchdown passes — three to Colton Fahey

Boel connected with Brendan King (32 yards) and Fahey (7 yards) in the second quarter and Robbie Long added a 3-yard scoring run as Bowdoin got three straight touchdowns for a 28-17 halftime lead. Boel was 14 of 20 for 225 yards.

Bobcats (0-5) quarterback Colton Bosselait was 27 of 45 for 310 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. Drew Sachs and Sergio Beltran each had a touchdown among their eight catches, but the Bobcats finished with minus-25 yards rushing.

FIELD HOCKEY
TUFTS 2, BATES 0: Claire Gavin put the game away in the fourth quarter as the No. 7 Jumbos (9-3, 6-1 NESCAC) shut out the No. 10 Bobcats (7-4, 4-3) in Medford, Massachusetts.

Andrea DelGiudice opened the scoring just under 13 minutes in, and Gavin scored off an assist by Kylie Rosenquest with just under 13 minutes left.

Kaili Jacobsen made six saves for Bates and Lydia Eastburn stopped all three shots she faced to secure the shutout for Tufts.

PLYMOUTH ST. 11, UMF 1: Poland grad Abigale Bsullak netted a hat trick as the Panthers (7-4) rolled past the Beavers (1-12) in Farmington.

Gabby Vincentsen scored the lone goal in the fourth quarter for University of Maine at Farmington. Ella Grant made 15 saves for the Beavers.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
MMA 5, UMF 0: Annabella Scolaro scored three goals to pace the Mariners (10-3-1, 5-2 NAC) over the Beavers (4-9-1, 3-5) in Castine.

Kirra Magaña and Sophia Hernandez also scored, Sierra Hoops notched three assists and Abby Wong added one.

Oak Hill grad Paige Gonya made six saves for University of Maine at Farmington. Isa Thesing turned away three shots for Maine Maritime Academy.

TUFTS 4, BATES 0: Erin Duncan notched a goal and an assist for the Jumbos (7-2-3, 3-2-2 NESCAC) in a shutout win over the Bobcats (2-7-3, 1-6-1) in Medford, Massachusetts.

Caroline Kelly, Nicola Sommers and Thalia Greenberg also scored for Tufts.

Ruby Reimann made five saves for Bates and Samantha Bunar added one.

MEN’S SOCCER
UMF 1, MMA 0: Coleman Watson’s late first-half goal was all the Beavers (7-6-2, 5-2 NAC) needed to down the Mariners in Castine.

Jackson Leach made four saves to secure the shutout for University of Maine at Farmington.

TUFTS 3, BATES 1: A late rally attempt by the Bobcats (2-9-1, 0-8 NESCAC) came up short in a loss to the Jumbos (8-1-3, 4-1-2) in Medford, Massachusetts.

Tife Agunloye scored with an assist from Cesar Hoover in the 81st minute to get Bates on the scoreboard.

Ben Pensky scored 4:23 into the game to put Tufts up 1-0, a lead that stood at halftime. Max Clivio and Mikey Brady each scored earlier in the second half to push the Jumbos’ advantage to 3-0.

Trevor Hammond made four saves for Bates.
