TURNER — Rescue workers from Turner and Auburn responded Friday evening to a two-vehicle crash near 1949 Auburn Road that sent two people to the hospital, according to an Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
Richard Disanto of Upton, Massachusetts, was northbound in his 2022 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck at about 6:30 p.m. when he crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2003 Ford Econoline van driven by Tony Snow of Norridgewock.
Snow’s vehicle rolled over, trapping his passenger, whom the Sheriff’s Office referred to as “Edgecomb” in a Facebook post.
The van began smoking, according to witnesses who stopped to help.
Both drivers’ passengers required extrication by first responders. Snow and Disanto’s passenger, who has not been identified publicly, were taken by Turner Rescue to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston — Snow for neck pain and Disanto’s passenger for hip and arm pain.
The Facebook post said a preliminary investigation suggested that just before the crash, Disanto was distracted by several dogs inside his vehicle.
