Virginia Lee Gilman
SABATTUS – Virginia Gilman, known affectionately as “Ginny”, passed away peacefully on Oct. 13, 2023, at the age of 81. Ginny was born on Dec. 12, 1941, in Lewiston, the daughter of Richard and Sadie (Monaghan) Gibson.
She was predeceased by her parents; as well as her baby sister, “Bubbles.”
Ginny was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Lisa Gilman, son Daniel Gilman; grandchildren, Emma Blethen, Jessica Buiniskas, Nicholas Gilman; great-grandchildren Zoey Proctor, Jacob Barone, and Jackson Blethen.
Ginny was known for her sweet and selfless nature. She was a loving and kind soul who always put her family first. She cherished the holiday season and took great pleasure in spoiling her loved ones as much as possible. In true grandmother’s fashion, Ginny always made sure to have everyone’s favorite snacks on hand and always kept a freezer full of ice cream for her great-grandchildren.
In her professional life, Ginny dedicated over 25 years of service to L.L. Bean before retiring. She was a dedicated employee who brought her warmth and compassion to the workplace.
Outside of work, Ginny found joy in spending time with her family and creating lasting memories. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would go above and beyond to make them feel special. Family dinners and going out to eat were some of her favorite activities. She also enjoyed watching her favorite shows, such as “Perry Mason” and “Murder She Wrote”. However, in recent years, her greatest joy came from playing Skip-Bo with her family, creating memories and laughter that will be treasured forever.
A small celebration of life will be planned in 2024 to honor Ginny’s memory and the love she shared with her family.
Ginny’s presence will forever be missed. Her kind spirit, selflessness, and love for her family will forever be remembered and cherished.
