To the Editor:
Mahoosuc Land Trust supports the region’s rich tradition of respectful public use of private land for recreation and hunting. This year, the hunting season runs from October 20 through December 9. Both of these activities can safely co-exist with some knowledge and preparation.

For Hikers:
1. Be seen, be safe. Always wear blaze orange in the woods, even if you hike on a property that does not allow hunting.
2. Make noise as you hike.
3. Stay on marked trails.
4. Hike during the day when there are fewer hunters in the woods, and visibility is better, not at dawn or dusk.
For Hunters:
If you are interested in hunting on MLT land, please visit our website to see which properties allow hunting as well as property use guidelines. Hunting is allowed on much of our land, but is prohibited on two of our properties by the donors of the land. MLT believes that respectful hunters are advocates for conservation and land access. We are pleased to provide hunting opportunities on most of our properties.
