STATE — The Franklin Journal staff writer Pam Harnden received a first-place journalism award Saturday, Oct. 14, during the annual Maine Press Association’s conference.
Harnden won for her article about firefighter Stephan Bunker’s efforts to train first responders about how to avoid exposures to carcinogens after being diagnosed with brain cancer.
The description for the MPA health category noted, “Article related to issues such as new technology, challenges to serving changing demographics, MaineCare and Medicare reimbursement, expansion of hospitals or community-based health services.”
Harnden has been a Franklin Journal staff writer since 2012.
