STRONG – James died on Oct. 12, 2023 at the age of 98 at the Bangor Veterans Home. He was born July 26, 1925, to Norman and Mina (Stevens) Worthley.
James was an Army Veteran of WWII. After the war, Jim enrolled at the University of Maine, graduating in 1951. James worked for Wirthmore Feeds, but spent the most of his working career employed with the Maine Department of Agriculture.
In retirement, James enjoyed spending time on his family farm and spending winters in Florida.
James was predeceased by his wife Nelda of 57 years. Later he enjoyed the companionship of a friend, Peg Olynk. Surviving are his children, Margaret “Peggy” (Bill) Cox of Lincoln, Craig “Tommy” (Dawn) of Hallowell, John (Louanne) of Strong and Kevin of Winthrop. He has two grandchildren, Karen Paquette (Eric) of Greene and David (Ashley) Cox of Lincoln, and two great grandchildren, Brady and Carter Cox.
A celebration of life will be held on Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Forster Memorial Building in Strong located at 14 S Main Street. Light refreshments will be served.
