Barbara A. Giguere
AUBURN – Barbara A. Giguere, 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023 at the Hospice House with her loving family by her side.
Barbara was born in Lewiston on Aug. 11, 1948 to Howard and Pearl (McDonald) Moody,
Barbara worked many years at Knapp Shoe then at D’Youville Pavilion until her retirement. After retirement, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara could never give enough cuddles.
Barbara’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. The love she had for them was undeniable. She loved her frequent visits with her son, George. She would always joke that she liked his sandwiches the best because he would cut the crust off. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her son, Jeff. Rather it be their Christmas shopping trips or his visits with special take-out food. She loved visiting at his house, she always said it was cozy there. She looked forward to spending Saturdays at her daughter Cindy’s house. This would frequently involve shopping trips and the grandkids taking silly videos of her which we will forever cherish. Barbara enjoyed going out to eat with her brother,
Doug. Barbara enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to Florida. She loved the ocean and the casino. She had a special love for Hawaiian pizza, chocolate pudding and pancakes. Whenever the TV was on, you could find her watching TLC or game shows.
Barbara lived a life filled with compassion and love. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Eddie, of 53 years. They married on July 2, 1988 although they had been together since 1970. Barbara is also survived by two sons, George Vannah, wife Lisa and Jeff Vannah, a daughter, Cindy (Giguere) Morin, partner Brad. Barbara was the stepmother to John Giguere, wife Joyce, Brian Giguere, wife Megan and Angie Spencer, husband Steve. She is also survived by her brother Doug Moody, wife Barbara. Barbara had 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren in which she had a special bond with each of them. A sister-in-law, Irene Libby and her husband Dave. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Barbara’s greatest joy came from nurturing and supporting her family and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, whom she missed dearly.
Barbara was known for her warm smile, her loving nature and her ability to bring joy to those around her. She had a kind heart, a listening ear, and always ready to offer comfort and support to others. Her genuine compassion touched the lives of countless people and her memory will live on through the lives she impacted.
The family would like to thank the Hospice House for their compassionate care during this difficult time. We would also like to thank April Vannah. A very dear friend for always being there for Barbara and making her smile.
