AUBURN – Joan Esther (Dube) Bergeron, 81, of Auburn, passed away on Oct. 20, 2023. She was born on April 30, 1942, in Lewiston. Joan was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend.
Joan was known for her generous spirit, kind heart, and sense of humor. She always had a grateful attitude towards life and touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her warm personality and genuine care for others will be deeply missed.
Joan spent her childhood in Lewiston and was a proud member of the class of 1960 from St. Dominic’s High School. Joan married her husband of 40 years, Bert, in 1965. They moved to Auburn to raise their family.
In her career, Joan dedicated many years to Community Credit Union, where she held various roles from the early 1980s until 2000. She was a dedicated and hardworking employee who made a positive impact on her colleagues and the community.
Outside of work, Joan had a passion for traveling and exploring new places. She enjoyed playing cards and spending quality time with her friends and family. Joan cherished these moments and created lasting memories with her loved ones.
Joan is survived by her children, Steve (Amy Sabaka) Bergeron, Susan (Robert) Smith, and David (Nicole) Bergeron. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Phillip Bergeron, Rachael (Lucas) Bourget, Gabrielle (Tyler Bateman) Smith, and Danielle Bergeron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bertrand Bergeron; her father, Edgar Dube, her mother, Antoinette Dube; and brothers Normand and Gilman Dube.
Joan’s memory will forever be treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit will continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who remember her.
The family invites you to a time of visitation on Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Fortin Group Auburn, 217 Turner St. A celebration of Joan’s life will be held immediately after at 12 p.m. at The Fortin Group Auburn. Committal services will be private.
