BANGOR — Big plays gave Bangor a couple of early leads, but Oxford Hills responded each time and shut down the Rams over the final three quarters to earn a 39-14 Class A football victory Monday in each team’s regular season finale.

Hunter Tardiff ran for three touchdowns and gained 147 yards on 16 carries, and the Vikings (7-2) generated 458 yards of total offense.

Bangor (4-5) returned the opening kickoff 88 yards to take an early 7-0 lead. Tardiff’s first touchdown tied the game at 7-7.

Kyle Johnson’s 25-yard run put the Rams up again, 14-7, but Tardiff’s second TD, an 11-yard run, cut Bangor’s lead to 14-13 before the end of the opening quarter.

Oxford Hills took the lead for good in the second quarter when Brady Truman connected with Logan Spencer for a 46-yard scoring strike.

Tardiff scored his third touchdown on a 10-yard run in the third quarter, and Truman found Brady Delamater for a 49-yard touchdown pass to make it 32-14.

The Vikings final score was a 65-yard pass play to Brayden Murch from backup quarterback Carter Wyman in the fourth quarter.

Truman completed 16 of 24 passes for 207 yards and the two scores. Murch caught a team-high four passes for a team-high 98 yards. Spencer finished with three catches for 63 yards, Delamater two for 49 yards and Jake Carson three for 42 yards. Tardiff had one reception for 20 yards.

Johnson gained 86 yards on 21 carries for Bangor, which finished with 174 yards of offense.

Oxford Hills will begin the A North postseason as the first or second seed and host a semifinal. Bangor holds a slim lead over Lewiston for the region’s fourth and final playoff berth. The Blue Devils (3-5) host Edward Little (0-8) on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
