BETHEL — The Bethel Select Board appointed Sharon Jackson as Bethel’s Town Manager .

Chair Meryl Kelly, Vice Chair Michele Cole, Frank Del Duca, Sarah Southam, and Pat McCartney entered executive session with Jackson on Oct. 26. Over an hour later they exited, having hashed out the details.

The new contract is effective immediately and will run until June 2024.

Kelly said, “she [Jackson] has an incredible wealth of knowledge and municipal experience, most recently as Selectman in Oxford, Town Manager in Fryeburg and budget support consultant for towns including Buckfield and Brownfield. It will be a great support and benefit to have her guiding us into the upcoming budget cycle, which she notes as her ‘favorite time of year.'”

Kelley said the board will restart the search for a permanent Town Manager in spring, 2024.
