DEAR SUN SPOTS: There will be a Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Community Room at Montello Heights Retirement Community at 550 College St. in Lewiston. — Jennifer, Lewiston

ANSWER: This fair is just a couple days away. I hope some of you can make it over there!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The coming months are filled with family, joy and excitement as we head into the Giving Season. The atmosphere at Bolster Heights is no different. We always receive generous support from the community and families to ensure that our residents have a wonderful holiday, so we trust in the kindness and generosity of our local businesses and residents’ families for donations of goods and services to support our holiday celebrations.

Each year that we have been able to do this, it truly has made the difference in their holiday season. Please reach out to the activities department at 784-1364 if you would like to donate. — Stacey, no town

ANSWER: Bolster Heights Residential Care is at 26 Bolster St. in Auburn. Ever since I’ve been Ms. Sun Spots, a staff member has written to me with this request and I’m happy to be a part of their holiday celebration by getting the word out to Sun Spotters.

The generosity of our readers always amazes me. Keep up the good work! And thanks to the staff at Bolster Heights for making sure the residents there have this to look forward to.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do any readers know of a good carpenter in the area who takes care of small jobs and/or also remodels bathrooms? I’ve called a couple and they haven’t returned my calls. This senior would much appreciate a couple names. Please call 344-5935 and leave a message or write to Sun Spots. — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: Let’s get some recommendations to this reader, my friends, and plump up the Rolodex. I have Mainely Repairs & Remodels listed: (https://www.mainelyrepairs.com/) in Sabattus (mainelyrepairs@gmail.com, 740-6916.

Another is Shamrock Home Improvement in Lewiston (https://shamrock-207.com/, 844-1035).

DEAR SUN SPOTS: What has happened to the “TV Guide”? I also notice the magazines “Star,” “Life and Style,” “People” and sometimes “OK” and “In Touch” are in short supply. I buy them every week and I have noticed that the supply is limited. Are they going out of print? — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: All these publications are still in business. Have you asked the manager of the store where you normally shop for your magazines about this? And have you considered purchasing a yearly subscription to each of these publications rather than picking  them up at the store? That way, you’ll receive them in the mail and won’t have to be concerned about the store not having them.

“TV Guide” is running a special online right now (https://subscribe.tvguidemagazine.com/) for $15 per year, including a free 2024 calendar.

“Star” (https://subscribe.starmagazine.com/ is $46 for the year; “People” is $91 per year at this website (https://www.magazines.com/people-magazine); “OK” is on sale for $15 per year on this site: https://www.speedymags.com/, as is “Life and Style” for $77 and “In Touch” for $97.
