Michael Soboleski is the one playing politics by berating Jared Golden — a fellow Marine, no less — for changing his position on assault weapons.
Golden stood up for his country by enlisting in the Marines after 9/11, and he acted courageously now by calling on Congress to ban these military weapons.
Soboleski knows the Second Amendment says nothing about using these weapons in the mass murders of innocent people. Couldn’t he acknowledge that 18 of his fellow Mainers didn’t need to die, nor 13 be injured?
No, because he will run against Golden and is playing politics.
One might expect Golden to be attacked from afar, but by a Maine legislator who watched the carnage unfold?
At this terrible time in Maine history, he should be on the side of protecting innocents from gun violence.
