In 1966, I had the privilege of winning an American Field Service Scholarship to travel from Queensland, Australia and live in Auburn, graduating in the class of 1967 from Edward Little High School.

My year of living among you in Auburn-Lewiston was a highlight of my life, and the warmth and generosity of the local community is something I will always treasure.

Today I am lost for words to describe and comprehend the horror that has befallen your community, and grieve with you from afar at this very difficult and sad time.

My sincere best wishes to all of you in Auburn-Lewiston, and know that we in Australia are thinking of you.
