The watercolor paintings of Kenneth Harvey and the photographs of Richard Plourde are on display for the month of November in the Woman’s Hospital Association Rotating Art Gallery at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Harvey is a watercolor artist who has been exploring this medium for over thirty years. After working for a major corporation for 32 years he took the opportunity to retire and follow his life-long dream of becoming a full-time artist. He is presently engaged in plein air painting, and is one of a number of artists who participates each year in the Great Paint Out in Boothbay. His work has been shown at several L/A Art Walks. “My one great hope is that my excitement and enjoyment in producing these images comes through in my work”.
A resident of Lewiston, Plourde’s lifelong passion for being artistically creative has taken many forms including an extensive professional graphic design career with the Geiger owned, Lewiston based publication, “Farmers’ Almanac.” And in 2015, he created his own website design business “BlueStar Graphics.” His latest creative interest is now focused on photography where he has become locally known for sharing his stunning photos on social media of Lewiston-Auburn highlighting popular locations around both cities. Many of his photos can be seen promoting the city, events, and economic development.
The works on display may be purchased through the WHA Gift Shop located adjacent to the main lobby at Central Maine Medical Center. A percentage of sale proceeds benefits patients of CMMC.
