Late in October, at an intersection by my house and at another location down the road, several campaign signs for Carl Sheline had been knocked down.

That some signs were thrown into the woods, and that nearby signs for other candidates were untouched, strongly suggest that this destructive behavior was not the result of inattentive driving or bad weather, but was a form of political sabotage. The signs were restored to their proper places.

Although I don’t know the identity and precise motive of the perpetrator, I have a strong suspicion.

If the reason for this miscreant behavior is to engage in some form of censorship and harassment, the person in question should understand that it won’t work.

Indeed, the vandalism will only bolster the determination of the candidate’s supporters to defend democratic rights and redouble their efforts for Mayor Sheline’s reelection.
