100 Years Ago: 1923

The Saturday Club of Brunswick began its 29th year with a short business meeting followed by a lecture on “Color Harmony and Clothes” by Mary Walker at the Community House Saturday afternoon. Miss Walker used living models to demonstrate the various points she wished to demonstrate.

50 Years Ago: 1973

Hebron Academy is announcing an exhibition of paintings and drawings from Estonia and South America, by Rudolph Lepalts, now a resident of Maine. The exhibit, presented by the Phoenix Society will take place at the Roscoe Hupper Memorial Library and a reception honoring the artist will be held Nov. 11. The closing date of the exhibit will be Nov. 19.

25 Years Ago: 1998

Angus King easily defeated four challengers Tuesday to win election to a second term as governor of Maine. With 62 precincts reporting at press time King held a landslide lead of his opponents with 59 percent of the vote. Rep James Longley, son of Maine’s first independent governor finished in 2nd place with about 18 percent of the vote.
