Free resources for birders:

Merlin (https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org) is an app that can identify birds for you. Once you download it, it will identify a bird by its song (like Shazam for birds), its photo or if you answer a few questions about the bird.

eBird.org is a database of bird sightings. Even if people don’t report what they see, they can use the website to learn about what birds are being seen near them or find local hotspots to go birding.
