100 Years Ago: 1923

In connection with the elaborate parade in Lewiston on Armistice Day the following women have been appointed to arrange for attractive floats: Miss Dorothy Ruggles, Chairman; Miss Mary Kennedy, Mrs. Elmer Abbott, Jrs. John S. Childs, Miss Nora Thompson, Mrs. Elly Hullett, and Miss Mary Conley. The women are working to make the floats particularly striking, one of those in Flanders Field.

50 Years Ago: 1973

A White House lawyer said today that Rose Mary Woods, President Nixon, personal secretary will testify about the Watergate tapes she listened to and apparently transcribed. Attorney Douglas Parker said she will appear Thursday at a hearing into the circumstances surrounding two Watergate conversations that President Nixon said went on recording. The hearing today was in its fifth day before US District Court Judge John J. Sirica, who said Miss Woods should be a witness.

25 Years Ago: 1998

Now that we all know how much Angus King won by, it’s time for the next question. When and where will the next party be? King said no decision has been made yet, but there does seem to be a big demand. If another party is to be held it will probably be at the Brunswick Naval Station Hangar.
