100 Years Ago: 1923
A cow moose has been thru South Paris and several of the surrounding towns recently being seen several times. One night Mr. Moore, a night watchman, encountered her on Main Street. The moose was coming through the lawns of Charles R. Dunham and Miss Hannah Wright and was not in the least afraid. Mr. Moore beat a hasty retreat to Mr. Dunham’s plaza. The moose took a look at him and turned onto the concrete paving, going down to an open lot where she disappeared. A cow moose was seen on the same day in the Whittemore district.
50 Years Ago: 1973
A Christmas Stocking review is being held Friday during the day at Hiebert Hall at the Central Maine General Hospital under the sponsorship of the hospital’s Nurses Alumni Association. Many of the knitted items are being prepared by Dorothy M. Richardson, Monita Breau, Myrtle Parker, Deborah Ricker and Elsie Lauten. Miss Ricker is co-chairman with Pamela Lawrence.
25 Years Ago: 1998
Auburn Senior Citizens will be able to make their own Christmas wreaths at 10 am at the Hasty Memorial Center. Sharon Wise of Michael’s Arts and Craft will demonstrate.
