LEWISTON — Community Concepts Inc. is opening the Maine Resiliency Center at noon Monday to give individuals and families affected by the Oct. 25 mass shooting a place to find services, according to a Wednesday evening news release.
The center was previously announced by the city of Lewiston as the Community Resiliency Center.
The organization is working in partnership with the state, city of Lewiston and other community partners to open a facility at 184 Main St. It will serve as a resource hub for those affected by the shootings at Just-In-Time Recreation and Schemengees Bar & Grille. This replaces services for victims’ families that were coordinated at the Family Assistance Center at the Lewiston Armory and closed Thursday.
Those qualifying for services at the center include anyone who was present at the shootings, family, friends, first responders, medical personnel and anyone in the community who feels affected.
The center is staffed by professionals who focus on long-term needs and can offer access to service navigation, case management, behavioral health support and more. It will be managed by Community Concepts, the Community Action Agency serving Androscoggin County.
The center will be open for walk-ins from noon to 5 p.m. on weekdays and additional planned programming and private appointments will be offered outside those hours.
Starting at noon Monday, the center can be reached at 207-515-3930. A website is being developed.
Those in need of immediate support should contact the Maine Crisis Line at 988 or 888-568-1112. The Maine Crisis Line offers free and confidential support around the clock. Text and chat lines are also available.
