Come watch the whole colorful cast of Dr. Seuss’ beloved stories come to life on stage as the Rangeley Lakes Regional School Drama Club presents “Seussical: The Musical” beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, at the RFA Lakeside Theater in Rangeley. Additional performances are scheduled on Saturday, Nov. 18, and Sunday, Nov. 19.
Meet Jojo, a young “Who” dreamer, as she learns “All the things they can think.” Watch that troublesome Cat in the Hat teach her how those thinks can get her into trouble and out again. See the Mayor and his Wife bemoaning how they ever raised such a peculiar child, and General Genghis Kahn Schmitz, determined to put some Who sense into her head.
Come meet Horton, our big loveable elephant who is determined to protect a small world only he can hear and a fragile bird egg left in his care. His convictions that “a person’s a person, no matter how small,” get him into more trouble than he can ever imagine! Big brassy Sour Kangaroo is determined to have him locked away for disturbing the peace, beautiful Mayzie LaBird’s self-centered actions often get in his way, and poor little Gertrude McFuzz, the bird with the one feather tail, can never seem to catch Horton’s attention.
“Seussical” is Directed by Erin Perkins Smith, and using the creative talents of many members of the Rangeley Community including Wendy Caisse, Pam Ellis, Sonja Johnson, Jess White and Brittany Wetherill, this musical is truly a community work of art, sure to be a spectacle for the eyes, ears and heart.
