LA Arts has launched its “To Lewiston, With Love” postcard initiative.

Developed as a way for the community to work together towards collective healing, the organization is opening the call for individuals at the local, state and national levels to express their thoughts in the form of a postcard and send their messages of love to Lewiston.

“To Lewiston, With Love” postcards is set to be exhibited in the LA Arts Gallery through Friday, Jan. 19.

The postcards can address the victims and/or their families, the immediate community of Lewiston impacted by the recent tragedy, or the growing concerns over the horrific frequency of gun violence across the nation.

With a painting, drawing, photograph, poem or message on a postcard, people of all ages and backgrounds are asked to share their hopes and fears, remembrances and well-wishes, inspirations for a better world, and impassioned calls to action.

Submissions should be on a standard 3×5, 4×6, or 5×7 postcard, and people are welcome to submit more than one postcard. Blank postcards and materials will be available in the LA Arts Gallery throughout the duration of the exhibit for visitor submissions.

Postcards will be accepted until the end of the exhibit and then permanently archived in Maine MILL’s “One Lewiston” community archive.

Postcards can be dropped off at LA Arts during gallery hours, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday or noon-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, or mailed to LA Arts, P.O. Box 3753, Auburn, ME 04212.
